Reel Caddy Series
A series of three reel caddies containing special tools for holding and handling a fly when tying it to a tippet and when removing it from a fish’s mouth. These indispensable tools are tethered to a reel retractor for quick and easy access whenever you need them. The following 3 models will be available:
The Trout Reel Caddy features three tools that
are tethered to a pin-on, double-reel retractor. One of the retractor
cords holds a pair of curved mini-forceps, featuring narrow, serrated
jaws for carefully removing the smallest flies from a fish’s mouth. The
other retractor cord contains a special line cutter and a tool for
holding a fly. This caddy can also be used effectively for removing
small fly hooks from the mouths of other pan-sized fish species.
The Angler Reel Caddy comprises two tools that
are tethered to a pin-on, single-reel retractor. One of the tools is a
special line cutter. The other tool is a pair of curved forceps with
wide, serrated jaws. This caddy is designed to be used effectively for
removing hooks from the mouths of small-to-medium-sized fish species in
both fresh and salt water.
The Marine Reel Caddy consists of two tools
that are tethered to a heavy-duty, clip-on, single-reel retractor
featuring a cable cord. One of the tools is a special line cutter. The
other tool is a hook extractor, uniquely designed to provide optimum
visibility in finding and removing a hook lodged deep in a fish’s
mouth. This caddy can also be used effectively for removing hooks from
the mouths of larger freshwater fish species.
DVD: The Essentials to Efficient Fly Casting
Fly casting is a mechanical process involving leverages, angles and forces in motion. A flyrod is essentially a third-class lever with two parts: an arm and a fulcrum. The arm is the part that pushing or pulling forces are exerted and, in fly casting terms, it is the flyrod. The fulcrum is the point or pivot on which the lever turns or balances and, in fly casting terms, it is the hand or arm of the caster.
The purpose of this video is to explain the basic principles to the mechanics of fly casting. To cast a fly line efficiently, effectively and effortlessly, an understanding of these basic principles is required. In addition, by knowing what all types of casts have in common, any casting problem can be analyzed and remedied.
The main focus of the video is on proper casting mechanics to control the size of the unfurling loop during the casting cycle and to generate maximum fly line speed to any cast. The topics and subject matter on the video are arranged to instruct a caster, regardless of their casting ability, through the entire process to becoming an efficient and effective fly fisherman. The final segment of the video demonstrates important and useful fish-fighting techniques. The 60-minute DVD will be available in the latter part of 2009.
