Chermanski Inc. will be offering a limited series of
two fly fishing schools starting in 2009. Join a small group of 6
anglers or less for a one-day, all-encompassing fly fishing school with
Dave or his son, Captain Willie.
The basic fly
fishing school is designed for beginners and novices to the sport. The
emphasis of the curriculum and instruction is to prepare the students
on all the basic and necessary techniques required for them to be able
to fish on their own. A major part of this emphasis is placed on
learning the mechanics of fly casting, shooting line, mending and roll
casts. Other class topics include the theory of fly fishing, tackle
components, tackle assembly, knots, leaders and connections, biology of
fish, fish prey and fly selection, fly presentation, fly manipulation,
strike detection, hook setting, and playing, landing, handling and
releasing fish.
The advanced fly fishing school is designed for
anglers who have been fishing for awhile and would like to improve
their angling success with more sophisticated tactics and techniques.
It is not a school for beginners or novices. The classes are intense
and comprehensive for anglers serious in improving their skills for a
more efficient and productive enjoyment of the sport. The instruction
is given individually at each student’s learning pace. The class topics
include tackle assembly, knots, leaders and connections, extending the
cast, casting accuracy, handling weighted flies, casting shooting head
systems, biology of fish, fish prey and fly selection, reading the
water, approach and presentation, fly manipulation, strike detection,
hook setting, and playing, landing, handling and releasing fish.

Starting in 2009, a limited series of fly tying classes will
be offered. There will be a beginner's class for those people wanting
to learn how to tie a fly. There will also be intermediate and advanced
classes for tying bass and panfish flies, freshwater trout flies and
saltwater flies. Most of the fly patterns demonstrated in these classes feature flies designed by Dave. The full details about these classes and a schedule will be announced
in the latter part of 2009. If you are interested in attending a fly tying class or you want more information personalized to your fly tying needs, please
